Spa jet holes and blower questions (waaaay too bubbly)

Well look what I found!

venturi.jpg

So I drilled a 1/4" hole in the PVC from the blower and this was enough to prevent the blower from overcoming water pressure enough to get any bubbles. Covering the hole for a good 5-10 seconds got giant bubbles again. Looking at it the volume is not as bad as I remembered so I think we may be able to fix this just by adding the nozzles, so I am ordering some of those tonight

If anyone is interested in the endoscope, here is a link.

Well that scope just paid for it's self and then some! What a neat tool!

Nice job!

I know, right? How often does a cheap tool work perfectly?

I should add that I got the wife to come help hold some of the jets closed to see if that would make a difference with the venturi pulling air, we covered 4 of the 6 jets, still no air from the remaining jets.

I got a similar scope on ebay a while back that I use for other plumbing inspections, after having paid $250 to have my sewer lateral cabled and reinspected. I connect it to my computer, but the phone is handy too. Very cool!

If she just covered the exterior of the jet pipe, that will not work because it will force water back into the venturi air pipe making even harder for the air to come out the other returns. You would need to plug just the jet nozzle.

OK, the orifices are here, but now I notice the PVC in the spa have all have some pebble-coat around the edges and in the pipe, so I guess I have to clean all that out before these can get installed.

Do they just press in? I would hope no glue is involved in case one of them breaks?

Might be a week or so...I had an accident yanking a jet ski engine out and the hoist fell on my hand and drove a spark plug cap through my left palm. Doc says no immersion until healed.

I may drain the spa, it's only 300 gallons.

Are you talking about the external eyeballs? Some are threaded, some are push in.

Or are you replacing the jet nozzles?

I got these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01F5SBGS6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They are clearly made to slide into the PVC, but they are super snug. Can't get one in more than maybe an inch.

OUCH! That had to hurt! Hope it heals without any problems

Hurt bad for 15 minutes.

Really hasn't been that bad since then. Just worried about infection.

Those are just for directing flow. They won't change the strength much.

And yes, they can be a pain to put it and take out. Try some pool lube.

Yes. I was serious. But most spas have threaded inserts so you can change the exterior fittings easily. Are the pipes smooth on the inside without any threads.
