I ask because my ph has been bumping up to 8.0 and I added muriatic acid as per the pool math app and have not had the expected change in ph. My acid is from last summer, but it was in a sealed container. Thanks.

The acid does not weaken.
Are you inputting a just tested TA every time you need to add acid? Poolmath needs the current TA to provide the amount of acid needed to lower the pH.

You also may have the jug with the half strength like the 14.something% which will need twice the amount.
Thanks for the quick replies. Yes the ta is in the calculation, and I have double checked the strength. I am going out there now to retest and treat if needed.
