Which of these pumps to get?

So the pump for my 27' above ground pool died at the end of the season last year. So I'm looking to replace it. I've narrowed it down to two:
Hayward 1.5 HP Power Flo Matrix
or
Hayward 1.5 HP Turbo Flo II

The pump I'm replacing is a Power Flo Matrix so there'll be only limited plumbing to get it installed whereas I'll have much more plumbing to install the Turbo Flo II. So unless the Turbo Flo II has a significant advantage I'll probably go with the Matrix but I thought I'd check. Thoughts?

That's way too much power. You don't need anywhere near that much power.

Get a smaller hp and get a two speed.

You should be able to run low speed most of the time.

Really? I'd always been running at that horsepower and it's what our installer recommended. Is there a recommendation for HP for standard above ground pool sizes?

Although as James points out youd on;t need maximum HP most of the time. So getting a 2 speed punp and running it on low speed a lot of the time will save you in electrical costs. You will find a slower speed and lower HP pump setting works fine.
