Where did the total alkalinity go?

Hi y’all. I fell behind in regular testing of my pools pH and TA due to life’s pressures though I kept the chlorine level stable. Tested the pH and TA today and found both had dropped off the cliff. Weather has been hot and humid with little rain. I haven’t been adding any new water. What can cause this to happen? Could it be a bad reading from my test kit?

My thoughts, too. Once again. Marty beat me to the reply.

My cya is Sky hi. I fought with it last season. Tried using that expensive additive (can’t think of the name) which did nearly nothing. Tried draining a third of the volume multiple times but refills take forever because my well cant keep up.

My neighbor “helped me out” last year when we were on vacation and bought a big pair of trichlor and it killed me to just toss it so I decided to use it this year.
