What's your indoor/outdoor room look like?

We'd like to replace our family room windows and single door (about 30 feet) with some kind of glass wall that can be opened in the late fall, winter, and early spring. I like the stacking sliders, but don't know that I want to have to open and close a sliding door all summer log. We could do a series of French doors, but would then would deal with the lost floor space when the doors are open. Do you have a configuration that works for you? Lessons learned?

Thanks!!

I wish this place was ours, but it’s a VRBO rental that we had in Maui a couple of years ago during our daughter’s wedding. The stackers are along the back and on the right hand side and we loved how it brought the fresh ocean breeze into the living, kitchen and dining areas. When we replaced our windows and back door, we considered doing something like this, but then we realized that Hawaii’s climate is a little more conducive for it than Texas’.

They do a lot of stackers in FL. There are many different versions to choose from, but do keep in mind.... hurricane season.
With that being said, visit your local window manufacturers and see what options they have that fit your budget.

At half a block from the intracoastal, and less than a mile from the gulf, we are ALWAYS mindful of those darned hurricanes!!!

We thought about it as we are just about to replace all our windows with impact glass. Doing that would require MAJOR renovations at our house so we are just replacing the standard slider and all the french door with impact. Just doing that is a pretty penny.
