What type of sand?

We just leveled our yard and are about to buy sand for the buffer. I've been reading to use mason/mortar sand but there are so many different types at our Home Depot, that I'm not sure which to buy. Some bags say type N and type S. Does it really matter and is mason sand what is in fact normally used? Thanks!

I used mason sand under my pool. Depending on how much you need, you might want to have someone just dump a pile instead of buying a bunch of bags.

...these are what’s in my local Home Depot, but yours may have different products.
If this is what you’re asking about, then I wouldn’t use either of them. Call a local landscaper and have them deliver some regular mason sand.
