What is this?

There is this water supply line sticking out of the concrete apron near the shallow end of the inground pool. It looks like something screwed onto the top of it at one time. It feeds back to the basement of the house. When I turn the valve on water comes out of this but given its location I'm not sure what this is used for. Any ideas?

Could this be a water supply line used to fill or top off the pool?

it probably had a 90 degree elbow on it at one time to direct water into the pool. It was most likely used as a refill point for the pool.

perhaps but what would attach to it so the water would reach the pool? Wish I could attach a picture to show

Are refill lines ok to use in the NorthEast? Wondered about winterizing.

As long as you can shut it off in the basement and drain the water out of the one you should be fine.

Usually a 90 degree elbow, and what looks like a bathtub spout, long enough to position over the pool...if it's a fill line.
