what is this noise? pump broken?

Remove this cap to access the shaft and see if the shaft turns freely.

The motor looks like it is about 15 years old, so it might be dead.

You can check the voltage going to the motor terminals to verify that it is correct if the shaft turns easily.

Was the new capacitor the same exact specifications?

Did the old capacitor still have a charge?

I'll take the cap off and look. Capacitor is the exact same specs as the old one I pulled out. I don't have a voltage tester so I'll have to run and pick one up to test that out.

Hey James - I decided to replace the entire unit. I have ordered a new Pentair SuperFlo VS Pump which will be delivered in the next few days. That being said, is it beneficial to install a flow meter to help optimize the pump set up?
