Uneven rebar bench

Getting ready for shotcrete next week. We have a long bench at the far end of the pool. The rebar for the bench is visibly sloped upwards towards the right. Should I be worried or will they fix it and even it out with shotcrete?

That looks level to me in relation to the objects behind it. Have you used a level to check it?

No worries about that at all. Shotcrete guys will level that without issue. The only thing that you have to watch is the distance above the dirt. As long as you have space then the rebar and conc will do its job.

Another thing, make sure that the shotcrete guys limit their blowouts while they work. So the top of beam is 12”in and flat so if your coping is pavers, travertine, or stone then setting the coping will be better.

I would make sure to be there and outside watching when the shotcrete is blown. Keep feeding them and providing drinks and they will be glad you are out there!

I would be more worried about all the sharp and sizeable stone they have backfilled your PVC with. I just had an expensive repair from my builder backfillng with large stone on my return line.
The proper way is a foot of compacted sand for bedding and a foot of sand on top to protect it.

I very much second what Kim said, be there when shotcrete is blown, give the guys Gatorade and cookies, it wont save you any money but they will at least be a little more motivated to do a good job for you.

Lol thanks! We live close to a riverbed and we have lots of cobble. The inspector isn't worried at all.

Shotcrete scheduled for tomorrow 4/12!

Oh I would have been worried as well! I would have pointed it out to them with a puzzled look on my face to make sure they knew I saw it.

I am SO happy to hear it is purrfect!

Make sure to ask any and all questions you might have no matter how small! We have all been where you are at one point.

This is also where I ask you what test kit your PB is giving you. Let us know so we can fill in any holes it might have.
