Appreciate advice for using a mesh leaf cover over IG pool winter cover. I'm about to order one unless people find them useless. The idea is to put it over winter cover, remove it after all leaves are down & put it back on at early spring opening to avoid skimmer basket clogging with spring tree debris. Anyone use anything (large beach balls?) to keep leaf cover above winter cover so leaves don't get wet. If yes, please tell me how you do it! Tks!

Why can’t you blow the leaves off the winter cover?

Not understanding either. Just closed a pool today with loop lock mesh cover. Drained to below return jets, blew out and plugged, then covered pool. It'll take time for the water to get upto the cover. When the leaves land, it's on a dry surface and can be easily blown off. Late winter is when we look out for the water level unless there's lots of precip and even then when the center of the cover has a puddle the pool gets pumped down some so no issue there too.
No blower we own is powerful enough to blow heavy, wet leaves off the winter cover. We're hoping that adding a leaf cover (until all the leaves are down in Jan) will help the backbreaking chore of wet leaf removal.

See photo as we have different cover system from yours. Ours dips down greatly, collecting water & leaves, making leaf removal very difficult.

For anyone looking to add a mesh leaf cover over their winter cover that employs water bags, here's what ours looks like. We tossed in some beach balls to keep the mesh cover raised above the winter cover. We'll see how it goes over the next 2 months while leaves come down. Once that's over with, we'll remove leaf cover until pool is opened. In the early spring, after opening, we'll put the leaf cover back on to catch the 2-3 wks of falling tree debris (the yellow stuff that clogs up the skimmer basket in early spring) We hope for an easier spring opening using this method. I suspect we'll have some grommet issues as we stretched net cover pretty tight, & staked only every other grommet, rather than each one.

Yes, that's our intent; it comes off after the leaves fall & then it'll go back on to at opening in early spring to catch the copious early spring yellow tree debris...
