This is a bad sound huh?

Pump is about 3.5 years old. This is running on full speed after cleaning out the DE filter. Seems to go away after a few min (and now posting about 4 hours later, I haven’t heard anything) but can this be indicative of something near term? The sound is kind of like being at the dentist and the drill is pushing in and off your teeth, and then back in? That’s the first thing that came to mind when trying to think how I’d describe it…haha.

Does it make the same noise on low speed?

No, only seems to be high

Could be bearings starting to go bad. I'll ask a couple of experts to check it out.

Maybe bearings or a failing drive.

I would have the bearings replaced and see if that works.

Thanks. Appreciate the help. Is that a complicated job? Don’t want to do myself, but trying to gauge what a fair cost of service is from a pool tech in the area.
