So, pool water is 72 degrees. Too cold to swim still, but I want to be doing *something* pool related.

Notices small micro weeds growing up from 1" channel drain covers cut into the cement decking. Hmmm... hate those little sprigs of weeds that are hard to pull out and never seem to die. Decide its time to pull up the plastic slatted channel drain covers and give the channel a once over. Its then we realize we've never cleaned these out in 9 years!

Using a pronged fork like garden tool and a jet sprayer on the hose we cleared out sludge and find the drains chock full of mud, sand, and pebbles and small thin cement chips filling half the drain space. Pulling the little weeds out of the edges was gross- their roots were like a mass of hair you pull out of a shower drain. UGH!

Leaving the covers off tonight to let everything dry up before closing it up again.

Have you cleaned your channel drains out .....ever??
