I noticed that the ph test may be out of whack when slamming your pool. When can you get a reliable reading? When it is back within the recommended levels or sooner?

When your FC level gets to 10ppm or lower then you should get a reliable reading. It could take a few days after your done slamming. It just depends on the water temperature and sunshine.

I would let the FC drop below 10 to ensure an accurate PH test. At FC levels of 10 and above the PH test can read a false high. 😎

The best thing to do is adjust your pH first before SLAM.

You cannot depend on the pH reading with high FC during the process as it interferes with the pH test.

You have been given some great advice by some of our finest on the nuances of testing pH.

BTW, I recognized your user-name and remember helping you get your pool in shape from a very high CYA this past summer. Hopefully all is going well.
