T-Shaped Lap Pool

After seeing a friend’s lap pool with double deep ends, we figured we would take the plunge and build one of our own! We’re in the process of our build right now, which is vinyl over steel construction.

We liked the idea of the centre shallow section and deep ends on either side for lap swimming but wanted something that would still work for kids playing and lounging. That prompted us to bump out the Centre section from 10’ wide to 20’ wide, giving us 20x12’ as the shallow section. We did vinyl over steel/concrete stairs along the full 12’ width to have some extra lounge space.

For us, it seemed like the best of both worlds: 50’ lap pool for my wife to get her workout in, but also 20x12’ for me to be lazy and the kids to goof around.

We’re getting close to the finish line now. The steel was set with concrete and back filled and they started doing the smooth coat of concrete in the base of the pool. Unfortunately, the weather turned and that caused some trouble so they’ll be back to redo/patch the concrete. That should happen this week or next, followed by the brushed concrete surround and additional patio space.

I’m being told 3 weeks or so until finished - here’s hoping!

Nice! One thing many pool owners don't give enough thought to is "How will you use it?" Sounds simple enough, but many owners just go for a "look" and soon realize after the fact they should've done a shape or depth more conducive to laps, playing sports, diving, etc. Nice to see you are accommodating various aspects of pool fun. :swim:
