SWCG pool tested FC @ 9 using test kit. Is this even possible?

Hi newdude, I'm still in Sydney Australia. That's what makes the high chlorine strange.

We're mid spring and there was a period as the weather began to change when the chlorine wasn't keeping up so I started increasing the percentage, but strangely now I'm turning it back down.

I'm guessing it may be weather related. I'm curious to know if anyone else in Sydney has experienced this hump?

The last couple of weeks have been colder and at times wet which equals less swimming in my pool. I have also had the solar blanket on to try and keep the water temperature up. These two factors have also increased my FC. No problem to be above Target and under slam for a bit.
dial it back a touch, Not too much though. Keep at or above your Target. The hot weather has been unpredictable this year and you don't want to be caught with your FC below your Target.

It’s rarely a perfect adjustment. SWGs only have so many settings to choose and if you don’t nail the pump runtime math along with the cell %, You’re over/under your daily demand. Being over is always your preferred goof. It is totally harmless up to and including Slam level for all swimmers and equipment. There is almost no leeway below target level, usually about 1 days worth of daily demand. If you don’t catch it in that window, you’re on your way to a swamp.

So anytime you need to adjust a setting, keep tabs on it for a few days and see if you need any further tweaking. You did good. It happens and you caught it. (y)

Newdude, yeah I've been watching it go up slowly these last few weeks thinking I should leave it as is because it will turn back the other way, but now that it's almost at slam I figured I should make the change.

I have discovered there is a benefit of having high chlorine for a few weeks. The black scum, yellow pollen and brown tannin staining on the waterline is totally gone. Spotless!

Hi again, Charles. I missed your post for some reason.

Yes, me too. FC consumption has gone down from the cloudy last weeks of spring (imo). The pools I help with have all shot up. Settings that were fine last year seem too high just now.

As mentioned, good problem to have! With all the wind I've also had more debris in the pool, so likely a good thing, killing off new algae cells arriving.
