The store where I buy my liquid chlorine installed the sureTREAT by Taylor water tester. Thought I would give it a try as it might remove human error.

Over six weeks most readings confirm manual Taylor testing EXCEPT TA which manually reads 80. The ST consistently calcuates TA at 22* (*based on it's reading of 40 TA and a pH of 7.3). Am I that far off or do these machines give bad readings? (Note: Had two friends manually confirm my TA).
Has me concerned.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Welcome to the TFP pool! :splash:

My first suggestion is to stop going to the pool store.

Not much credence is given to pool store testing around here. While you would think that a "professional" would be the best, unfortunately in most cases it is quite the opposite. Between employees who blindly trust the word of chemical sales representatives and high school kids working in the pool store for the summer you end up with poor results from their testing.

Also, do not confuse the specificity of the results the "computerized" systems give with accuracy. There is always a human element involved (amount of water sample used, how clean is there testing equipment, ect.).

Always stick with your numbers.
