From the title itself. Is it possible to install a sun shelf or Baja shelf on an existing vinyl liner pool?
How does it affect the structural integrity? Pool is 20 x 40 in CT.
Has anyone done this? What were your experiences?
How was it after 5, 10 or 15 years?

Thanks!

Anything is possible with enough money.

Post pics of your pool so we can get an idea what you are dealing with.

I just had a company quote me because I don't have a sun shelf.
just wanted to know if that is possible. my pool has 2 ladders to enter. 1 on the shallow end and 1 on the deep end.
My pool is closed right now since we wanted to renovate it. also it does not have any bonding. might not be safe to swim in.

to add. My ladders are metal ladders. And pool has not been updated since 1970.

Yes, absolutely doable. Adding a step/sunshelf to an existing pool is what is considered a "drop in stair". It will be a custom fit to your pool, but there are manufacturers out there that will absolutely make these parts. One is InterPool (or International Steel), located in New York state. They don't deal directly with consumers, only through distributors, who will only deal with builders or dealers, but it can be done. After all the steel parts change hands 3 times before it gets to your yard, It will probably cost you somewhere around $8-12000 for the parts, and then some labor to put it together and a new custom liner. I would guess something like $15-20k here in Michigan. Prices might be a little higher for you on the East Coast, but that would involve shopping for the exact builder to do this. Too far for me to travel.
