Store chemicals in winter/snow

Where are you supposed to store chemicals over the winter? I am in NJ so we get cold/snow - not sure if that changes the answer.
Outside? garage?
I did a quick search and saw the post about keeping certain things separate.
 
Just FYI for others (since you're not storing pure acid), I wouldn't store Muriatic Acid in a garage. It has a pressure-relief cap so can expel hydrochloric acid gas that is VERY corrosive. The bottle should be put in an area with good ventilation and far away from any metal. If you have full-strength Muriatic Acid (31.45% Hydrochloric Acid or 20º Baumé) then it can be stored outside since it's freezing point is -46ºC (-50.8ºF) as described in this post.
