Our pool is a little over a year old and I have been having trouble with the ph staying real high, it's almost always at the highest reading of the Taylor's test kit if I don't test and add acid every other day. These spots at the bottom I haven't noticed before until a couple days ago, am I being paranoid that this is from water chemistry imbalances or could this have been there the whole time?

That can be normal for a new pool with a TA of 110.

If you get your TA down around 60 it will buy you another day or two.

If you have high TA fill water then you are stuck.

Yes

or could this have been there the whole time?

No

16K Gal gunite pool,

Why does your signature say "60,000 gunite pool"?
Bi carb for TA

Stop adding bicarb and raising your TA.
