Spa heater kicks on then shuts off

I recently moved into a new home that has pool and spa. The problem is the heater kicks on, then shuts off right away. CAn somebody point me in the right direction of what part needs to be replaced or what needs to be fixed?

You really need to include the make and model of heater to get proper help

Some spa heaters have 2 sensors that screw into them, the 2nd one for over-temp protection. If that's the case, the 1st sensor could be telling it that the heat needs to be on, and then a defective 2nd one could be shutting it down. Can't say more without some info else you could be sent on a wild goose chase.
