Solid Cover Repair

Has anyone repaired a solid cover that has some tears in it?

We have solid cover with a section that has ripped. The section is probably 2 feet by 4 feet. I was thinking of cutting some vinyl tarp material and gluing or stitching the cover to get at least another year out of it. 90 % of the cover is fine. This one section gets the most sun has cracked and ripped. A new one is $3,200 which I would rather avoid paying right now.

Tarp repair tape or the widest duct tape you can find. It has kept my cover going for years. Tape both sides of any tears.
