Hi TFP friends,
I've had a solar cover on my pool for years, with a reel to wind up and release the cover. This is on an indoor pool, kidney-shaped pool. Recently, I trimmed the rectangular cover so that it closely follows the contour of the narrowest width around the slide. The new shape makes the cover easier to close, however, this has resulted in unbalanced winding as the cover winds around the reel. The reel seems to be protesting--squeaking and the gears inside the transfer case seem to slip or strip. Is there a tuneup process for the reel? It's likely an off-brand, yet it's similar to the Storm 55-0000ST-BK . However, mine has a gear transfer case located near the crank, on the inner side of the leg.
