Smoke coming from Pump

Just completed my first Mustard Algae SLAM. Pool looks amazing now.

Pump has been running 24/7 for 5 days. Has been raining for 24 hours with 90%+ humidity.

This morning noticed pump was off and it tripped circuit breaker. Turned it on and smoke came out from that piece screwed onto the top.

Do I need a new pump? If so, what do you recommend? I have a 15,000 in ground pool and a cartridge filter. I don’t have a good place to backwash/vacuum to waste without hooking up a 100’ drain hose and running it to the street.

Welcome to TFP! That's a capacitor. Fairly easy item to replace if you have some basic DIY skills. You do want to make sure to replace it with the same part number. @JamesW has a lot of those memorized, but if he doesn't post soon you can call InyoPools and I'm sure they can confirm the right replacement.

Thanks! Here’s some photos of what it looks like under there

Hahaha. Glad it was just the capacitor and not the motor.

I ended up ordering this one as it had the fastest ship time. Don't want my Mus Algae SLAM to go to waste. I hope this one will fit:
