240 v, 50 hertz , 3.8 amp

it’s wired on a single pole switch. 3 wires coming in. Red, black, green,

black is going through switch pols and 240v, red continues.

so where did black pickup both legs and is the red a neutral? If so could I replace switch with light switch that requires a neutral as long as it can handle the voltage and amps.

thanks for any input

Black and red are hot wires. Green is ground wire. You don't have a neutral.

That switch is not to code. They should have used a proper 240V switch that disconnects both hot wires.

You need a 240V double pole toggle switch.

If you do nothing else for safety reasons replace the toggle switch with a double pole switch and connect black and red through the switch. The electrician who did that took short cut and used a standard 120V light switch he had on hand.

Yeah I got a meter and checked it all and thought it was not right. Even the blower manual says different.
