I have an Intellitouch i7+3 and in the house I have the LCD screen I program the pool from. My Screenlogic2 arrives Monday. What is the best routing for the 2 wireless connectors and the protocol adapter. I'd like to put them in the house since I already have an LCD screen here. Is there someway I can use both or would I have to use the Screenlogic2 in place of my LCD screen.

I've read the installation manual and am not completely clear on the order or where to place the devices. I'm wondering if I can go:
Outdoor transceiver (in house next to LCD screen) connected to
Indoor LCD Screen
Indoor wireless connector in the next room attached to the protocol adapter, and my router.

Does that sound close?
Thanks,
Jo

The indoor controller will still work, there is an antenna that is usually mounted and wired to the outside panel, this communicates with the indoor receiver which connects to the porotocol adapter which is connected to the router with Ethernet cable provided. Technically you could hook it by tying into low voltage on indoor controller. But I’ve never seen it, done that way or know of the pros or cons. The newer wireless antennas signal has a really long reach so I would just mount at equipment panel.

Jo,

You can use both system at the same time... But they are two different systems so they can not be interconnected...

If you currently have a wireless indoor panel that means that you will have two transceivers at the equipment pad and two transceivers inside the house.. One set for the new ScreenLogic and one set for the old wireless remote..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks Jim,
It's the old wired LCD screen. Does that make a difference for wire routing?

Jo,

I would use the two wireless transceiver for your ScreenLogic connection...

I originally just used a 4 wire connection just like your old remote.. took a lighting hit that came in on the cable went through the Protocol Adapter into my house network and wiped out a ton of stuff.. Needless to say, I don't use the 4 wire cable any more...

Thanks,

Jim R.

I had planned on piggybacking off the wire that comes into my LCD to my first wireless transceiver, then put the second wireless at my router with the protocol adapter in the next room. I just wasn't sure that would work.

I’m sure it would work just because, that’s where you would be connecting it anyways but on the outside panel directly to the board. I’ve seen multiple indoor controls done this way but never thought of putting the antenna inside.

Another option is skipping the wireless for the protocol adapter. Put it at the location of the LCD connected with the RS485 and use a wireless bridge there to connect to your wifi system. I have my protocol adapter at the ET panel hooked up that way.

I was thinking using the second wireless before the protocol adapter would essentially insulate my home network and that adapter from a lightening strike coming in. Although I'm in the Desert so we don't see a lot of lightening but we do see some.

Jo,

You would have to use both wireless transceivers.. One at the end of your 4-wire cable and the other at the input to the Protocol Adapter...

Thanks,

Jim R.
Thank you, I'm sure I'll be doing and redoing a couple times LOL. My pool and water features are still not in their final form. That was exactly the information I was seeking. Thank you so much. It arrives tomorrow we'll see how far I get before I'm back here!

Jim,
I wanted to thank you for all your help. It took me less than 30 minutes to piggyback off my LCD to the first wireless transceiver then hook up the wireless receiver and protocol adapter in my computer room. It's all running just fine.

Now to try and troubleshoot my heater!
Thank you,
Jo

Jim I replied in the heater thread I started so I'll be able to find it when I return, thank you.
