I just changed out the sand in my sand filter, and when I turned it to filter the water is still shooting out of the waste valve? Is it the O ring or did I set it wrong?

Post some pics of your equipment pad, the filter, etc. Let's see if something odd catches our eye. Usually however when sand is blowing out of the return jets it's because a lateral at the bottom of teh filter is broken or got dislodged from the center hub assembly. Curious, did you happen to fill the filter partially with water before dumping the new sand in to avoid damage to the laterals? What brand of sand did you use?

I think your spider gasket is wrong....either damaged or put in wrong if you just changed it. Did you use Pool Lube?
