As my pool temperature is beginning to rise above 60 degrees, I am wondering how much salt to add. I have the TF-100 kit which doesn't have a salt test. Not sure if I should have ordered a different test kit?? Ive been using bleach during the winter while maintaining my cya at 60. Water looks very clear. My SWG is reading very low salt.

Michelle,

Never ever trust what the SWCG says is the salt level.. You need need both the TF-100 and the Taylor K-1766 salt test kit (Or the equivalent from TF test kits) The TF-100 is used to test the pool water for FC, CC, pH, TA, CH and CYA.. The Taylor K-1766 is just used to test the salt level in the pool water.

Before adding salt you need to know if the salt level is actually low, or if the cell is reporting the wrong salt level especially if you have an IC40 type of cell. It could very well be a bad thermister in the flow switch assembly.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks. Yes, the pool math asks for current salt reading. How do I determine that reading? My test kit has no salt test.
Get a salt test. the K1766 Taylor will do the trick. or whatever the TF equiv is. That is what I use for mine. you can buy the reagants without buying the whole kit. very accurate and would trust it over salt cell reading or pool store reading any day.

Just don't use strips or the pool store. They suck :p
