Return setup

Hey guys,

Does this design make any sense? PB wanted to put both skimmers on the side of the pool nearest my house so that when you look out from my house you don’t see the skimmers which I appreciated but not so certain in the return design?

Uploading pictures not working.

So pool is 40x 22. Along one 40 foot wall. It goes return skimmer return skimmer return. On the opposite long wall there is a single return in the middle btw the skimmers just on the other side of them.

Matt,

I like the idea that one skimmer goes on the long wal,l and one goes on the short wall.. If you can, put the skimmers in a position where the wind generally blows the floating debris toward them..

I also like to see a Return on each of the walls of the pool, with the idea being that the returns can cause the water in the pool to swirl like a flushing toilet, but obviously at a much, much slower rate.

I suspect your pool builder is trying to make his plumbing as simple for him as possible.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thank you Jim.
It’s kinda too late for the skimmers. The rebar is in. I’m being Gunited in a few days.

Given the 2 skimmers on the long wall do you know what would be an optimal return setup?

I do see how the is would be the easiest and now question the original suggestion. That being said, btw our rock waterfall / water slide and then sun shelf and steps. We have no room on the short walls

Another area in question is the deep end floor. They installed some singular floor unit with 3 pipes attached to it. I was originally told I’d have 4 suctions as I am feeding 2 pumps (1 for pool and 1 for water slide / waterfall combo). 2 suctions per pump. Each set of 2 would Y together into the dedicated pump. Now it seems the 2 pumps would have to share this 3 suction unit.
The PB says this is totally fine. The 3 suction unit is rated higher than the 2 3hp pumps could ever need. He told me the suctions are 21/4 or 21/2instead of 2inch. He said this is good for me. they do this cosmetic reasons. Less plastic showing on the floor of pool…
Is the Pb trying to pull a fast one - I.e they installed forgetting about my 2nd pump and now trying to smooth it over?
This process is so painful and expensive and I hate feeling like someone is taking advantage of my ignorance…
