Replacing laterals

I have a Hayward pro series s-244t sand filter that is putting sand back into the pool. I am a new pool owner and can’t seem to figure out what I need to buy. There are so many different filters! Does anyone knows a site that sells the laterals I need?

Also, is this a job I can do myself?
What types of tools will I need?

Katie, You CAN do this. First I need to ask some questions.

Have you deep cleaned your filter?

Why do you think you need new laterals?

That should get us started.

I have not deep cleaned my filter. Is that something I should be doing first?
Just by reading different threads I assume I have some broken laterals and that is why sand is coming threw the jets.

Could it be something else? At first it was just a little sand but it has gotten worse

Here is the link to doing a deep clean: Deep Cleaning a Sand Filter Now once you get inside it you might find it needs more work that I think it does but this will get you started. Start easy and cheap and we will move up from there!

But how does a deep clean have anything to do with sand coming threw the laterals?

Also, my filter is in my garage with tools all around, overflowing water all over isn’t really an option for me unless I clean out my entire garage. Seems like more work then just replacing the sand and checking the laterals? Does anyone know of a good place to buy them so I have them on hand if needed?

OH NO! I had no idea about it being in the garage.....guess a deep clean is out for you

Okay where to buy new laterals......this is my go to place Swimming Pool Supplies - Pool Parts - INYOPools.com They have awesome cust. service and just about every part known to a pool. When you call them make sure to tell them TFP sent you for the white glove treatment!
