Our skimmer has a crack at the top and we were advised to completely replace it. The water doesn’t come up to the height of the crack and we don’t have any leaks in the pool. I don’t want to rip out the concrete and completely replace if we don’t have to.

That is a large crack. You can try some of the things these folks tried and see how long the fix lasts. Eventually that skimmer will need to be replaced.
