Removable wire connectors for Goldline 24v valve actuators?

The actuators have 3 stranded wires. Not sure of the gauge.

My actuators have sat outside in winter snow for 20 years without major problems. I think a connection like that is more likley to cause problem then prevent any.

Not mine. When I opened one up this summer because it failed, it was full of rusty water. I drained it, let it dry and it worked fine. But I'd like to avoid the problem next year.

Also, that capacitor in my hand came completely disconnected. Anyone know what it does? The actuator works without it.
