Raypak heater vent question

Had a 20 year plus Hayward heater removed a couple years ago that was vented thru the pool house wall. Just had pool company install a new Raypak 266A heater. They installed the vent cap kit but would not do the vent to the outside and said I should vent thru the roof. My question...is it okay to have it vented thru the wall like the old heater was?

Check the installation instructions that should have been with the vent stack kit.

I think the issue is that your old Hayward heater had a blower and the blower pushed the exhaust out through the well.

The Raypak is a natural updraft heater and needs the exhaust to go directly up the vent stack into the roof. It will not operate properly with the exhaust making a 90 degree turn to go out the wall.
