Question about Pentair IC40

I have a pool that is about 1 week old. Everything seems to be going well but I think my chlorine level is a little high. I’m at just over 3PPM. The IC40 is set at 60%. I want to reduce to 40% but every time I hold the minus button, it flashes and goes to 40%. About 15 seconds later is flips back to 60%. What am I doing wrong? It does seem to like any setting aside from 60%

Under no circumstances is 3 ppm FC high. See FC/CYA Levels
Do you have automation?
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.

I have read that article. Very good and informative. What I’m not understanding is why my adjustments on the SWG are not saving? I have the SWG wired into the easy touch panel. As far as I can tell, the only way to control the SWG output is directly on the SWG itself.

You control the IC with the Easytouch panel. Do you have Screenlogic?

I do not have screen logic but thinking about getting it. Is that why my setting are not saving? Are my setting directly on the SWG being overwritten by whatever setting is in easy touch?

You adjust the IC in the Easytouch.
Menu/Settings/Intellichlor.

I'm wondering if the pool is only a week old why you got an intellichlor. Isn't the ichlor the newer one?

Newer is not necessarily better.

iChlor only has 15K and 30K cells. IntelliChlor has 40K and 60K cells.
