Hi - I closed my AGP yesterday and left the pump in place for removal today...but forgot to turn the timer off yesterday :brickwall:
So this morning the pump ran dry for 1.5 hrs and was still running when I unplugged.
Any idea if I’ve ruined the pump?
I’m thinking I can test it by pouring water in the basket...
P.S. It’s a HAYWARD MATRIX 1 hp pump.
Thanks,
Justin

Been there, done that with a Hayward Super II

The teflon slip ring and the impeller were damaged by overheating, but nothing else seemed affected. This happened several years ago and the pump has been running trouble free since.

Thanks all.
Wistro - I assume you replaced the impeller and ring? Is that difficult to do?
Thanks,
Justin
Wistlo is speaking of the mechanical seal aka shaft seal and Impeller which are relatively easy and cheap if you're a diy guy. I'm not sure what would go bad with the Impeller but if he said it went bad I guess he saw it.
