Pump Locking Lid Lubrication

I have a Pentair Intellipro VSF pump. The Strainer Basket lid is difficult to remove. The instruction booklet states that the O-Ring on the lid must be lubricated regularly but the type of lubricant is not listed. What should I use to lubricate the lid? Would Lithium Grease be Okay?

Use pool lube or silicon grease.

You should use a non-petroleum based lubricant. It should be a silicone based, non-PTFE lubricant. Magic Lube or Boss 820 Lube are two I have used.
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.

Use a rubber hammer to tap on the lid handles to loosen the lid.

It should be hand tight......don't over tighten.

I use automotive clear silicone paste. You can get it at any automotive store or maybe even Walmart. Think it's made by 3m
