I wasn't able to find a good picture of proper, neat and tidy heater bypass plumbing. (I did find a lot of examples of "what not to do", and the picture in the wiki could be better.) Would someone mind sharing a photo or good sketch of how it should ideally be done? Thanks in advance.

Below are two examples. Both the same...
  • 3 way diverter valve on heater input creates the bypass T
  • T to heater output
  • check valve on heater output between T and heater output.
Turn one valve to open or close bypass and you cannot accidentally dead head the water flow.
