Pressure Gauge Issue

I keep getting water in my pressure gauge. Not sure what to do about that, so I bought a new one. When I turn off the pump, can I just install the new one? See old and new pic below.

Yes, turn off the pump and open the air relief valve to let any pressure out of the filter. Then unscrew the old gauge and screw in the new gauge. Do not over tighten the new gauge.

Next time buy a gauge that goes 0-30. Your filter pressure will never go over 30 and you will have an expanded scale for the pressures you use.

Ok! I’ll return the one I got and get the one you mentioned. Do you think the one in this link will fit my pressure gauge inlet? The one I would like to return tomorrow is the “Hayward Boxed Pressure Gauge Replacement for Select Sand and D.E. Filter Limited Edition” and it fits
  • micro-clear vertical grid, perflex extended-cycle d.e. filter and sand filter models ec30, ec40, ec40ac, i_pfppts, s160t, s200, s240, s245t, s190t
  • Also fits hayward pro series sand filter models s210s, s244s, s310s, s140t, s144t, s180t, s210t, s220t, s220t2, s230t, s244t, s244t2, s270t, s164t, s166t
So I’m wondering if the one in the link you sent will fit my sand filter.

Yes, the gauge connection is a standard size.

I don’t think the bottom mount glycerin gauge will work for the OPs pump. I got one for my Intex but the glycerin filled ones have a vent that needs to be opened to account for temp changes which can’t be opened if the top of the gauge isn’t facing up.

You could be correct. I never tried the gauge at an angle.

If Mendy want to try the gauge and it doesn’t work for her I will take it off her hands.

TFTestKits sells a gauge with a rear mount that looks like it would work for the OP (though it may require a short extension).

I’ve been meaning to get this rear mount after the bottom mount didn’t work when leaks on the side like the OP’s gauge. Unfortunately I keep forgetting to add it when I buy reagent refills.

Be real mindful of that last point..... overtightening the gauge can crack the valve body, then you're looking at a whole new valve!

I finally have the time to do this. Been so busy. I’ll let you know if the gauge I got works. I really hope it does. 🤞

I use bottom mounted sideways all the time and are as accurate as designed to be. There's no reason to play with the top vent cuz everytime someone does they don't seal properly. Leave the vent ALONE.

Yep! It worked. Just installed it. Check it out. Thanks for all the help here.
Quick Question: why is there liquid in the gauge? It came in the mail like that.

The glycerin helps dampen the needle movement so its movement is less erratic.

Mine mounted sideways with the pump sitting in the sun would have 10+ psi indicated changes throughout the day that made it worthless for me. If it works for you that’s great.

The purpose of the vent is to correct for these temp based changes. But the vent needs to be on the top of the gauge or you will leak glycerin.

A brass nipple and a brass elbow should easily give the necessary lateral clearance from the multiport valve to allow mounting the gauge vertically.
