Ok so pool went green, it has been very hot. I slammed it 3 days ago. Still somewhat green, then added 1 pound of DE (today) very slow to skimmer after mixing it with water in a bucket. Pool pressure went from 15 to 16psi. Now after an hour of adding DE pressure has jumped to 30 psi. DE has only been in there an hour. Is the PSI too high should I go ahead and back wash the DE? TIA

I would suspect you need to backwash -- we normally say a 25% rise in filter pressure above clean. Plus you need to see if the water flow has decreased.

I backwashed it again. Watching my water levels. Added way too much DE according to this. The clorox box told me 1 pound, here it says 1/4 cup. So backwashed it started the process again, Im at 25 psi????

As others have said, you need to follow the SLAM Process. Then once your pool is cloudy and blue, start the DE process.

You need to backwash when your filter pressure rises by 25% over clean or your water flow decreases.

Once you begin dissolving the CYA, assume it is in the pool water and start your SLAM process based on the expected CYA level.
