Hello!

Just creating a quick thread for our new pool build. We moved in our new house last year and initially were going to put the pool in before COVID hit. Due to the uncertainty of everything we pumped the brakes on that project. Fast forward a year later and things have normalized somewhat we've decided to get back on the pool building bandwagon (w/ a completely different design than we previously decided on) and we're currently under contract waiting for permits.

We did change our PebbleTec choice from Blue Surf to Aqua Blue...I'm hoping this was the right choice!! Also removed bar stools that we originally had in the pool due to not wanting to fight with the robot trying to clean it.

I also do have a concern w/ the skimmer on the tanning ledge, anyone think this would cause an issue?

Here's a drawing and a few renderings to hold us over while we wait for permits to come back and HOA approval so we can get this thing dug. (Late June/Early July)

Looks great.
I too would be concerned about a skimmer on a tanning ledge. Entrapment risk is higher I would think.

Being that we’ll have artificial turf and no trees in the backyard I’m not to concerned about the debris portion. Maybe once the neighbors trees grow in several years this could be an issue. I definitely agree on the aesthetics. Based on the design the only other option would be putting it in the raised wall on the opposite side but not sure that’s great idea either. I’ll bring it up with the PB and see what options we may have.

Unfortunately doesn’t seem like a ton got done today but was assured they would be finished with the dig tomorrow.

The dig wrapped up today. They’re shooting for steel and plumbing on Friday!

Steel and plumbing came early. Still have a little to finish tomorrow morning and will have an afternoon inspection. After that we should be close to scheduling gunite for next week.

Hi bankOman!

I'm in Grapevine and stumbled upon your pool thread. I love your pool design and have a few questions. (Please forgive my ignorance if this is in the design plan, I'm not familiar with reading them.)
  • What is the width and depth of your backyard?
  • Who is your pool builder?
  • Did the pool builder design your pool, or did you use your own designer?
  • Are there any specific pool builders in the area who should be avoided?
  • What is the size of your gazebo?
  • How long has your process taken so far from consultation to this point in your build?
  • What is the approximate cost of this build?
Any other tips and advice you have would be much appreciated. I tried to send this as a private message, but it wouldn't go through because they thought it was spam. Feel free to PM me.

Thanks for your help!

They started putting coping down this afternoon. The coping doesn’t cover all of the gunite, is this normal?
Should be fine, the decking or what ever you have (grass or turf or?) Will just run into the coping, I have the same thing on my build with the coping.

Almost done with the tile, back wall taking shape, and they ran gas lines for the fire bowls today. Progress!! Tried to upload some pics but TFP site seems to be acting up. Will upload later :)IMG_1965.jpgIMG_1964.jpgIMG_1963.jpg
