A PVC connection to our pool fill bib recently developed a leak and soaked through an exterior wall. I pulled of the insulation tube that was taped on it, removed a crazy mat of tiny roots from some far away mystery plant ( likely been leaking a while) and saw this setup. The faucet is always on. Underneath it there is an irrigation access with another valve that runs to the auto fill. Is this setup correct? I'm wanting to make sure there isn't a better way to do this before I just swap out the coupling/o-rings and wait for it leak again.

I saw something called an anti-siphon valve in this thread that looks like it makes way more sense. Maybe gives us an extra usable faucet?

Looks like you have a check valve or anti siphon valve on that line. Its the thick thing in the middle.
