Pool and Spa Light Junction Box

I just noticed I have a junction box marked "INTERMATIC", ~20 feet from the pool/spa, and 18" above ground.

Is this for power lines going into the pool/spa lights? How do I test its GFCI protected?

In the photo attached, the outlet box has two outlets, but they don't have power. The pool light is working now. So either there are two power lines going into this area (one for pool light, and one for this outlet box), or this whole junction box is not related to pool/spa light?

The black box at the top is the junction box that contains the wire nut connections between the wires from the pool lights and to the breakers.

The GFCI protection is at the breakers or GFCI outlet feeding power into the junction box.

The outlet below the black box may be independently powered by its own circuit.

You are right, ajw22!

I went to the control box at the equipment pad, saw the circuit breaker for lighting, and there is a FGCI outlet mounted on the side of the control box. Tested it and it does provides power to pool/spa lights.

The outlet is likely connected to another GFCI in a different location, which is broken. I will replace and test later.
