Polaris booster pump not priming

Strange one for me. My (old) Polaris 280 booster pump isn’t priming.

If I turn it on, I get no pressure at the 280.

But, if I pull off the hose for the top discharge outlet, and turn the pump on, it will throw water about 6 feet up in the air or so. Then if I reconnect hose and turn it on the Polaris starts back up just fine.

I don’t want to have to do the geyser method every day on a schedule, so any help is appreciated.

Post pics of your equipment pad and your booster pump and hoses.

There any kinks in the booster hoses?

Does your main pump turn off at night?

I think when your pump turns off you get air into the booster pump lines. There may be a kink in the line or the interior of a hose may be worn.
