PoolSketch2.jpg

Resurfacing Existing Pool, Changing Concrete Pool Decks and Adding Some Features.
We put together a sketch of what we think the the new pool layout might look like.

Shallow end Cabo Shelf:
-10ft x 14ft (17ft if including entry) with water depth of 9inches for kids to splash around and 2 lounge chairs
-2 LED Bubblers. B1 and B2: each 6ft from the ends and pushed to leading 1/3 of shelf
-2 Umbrella sleeves. U1 and U2: each in line with the bubblers pushed back to trailing 1/3 of shelf

Deep End swim up bench/ledge:
-5ft x 5ft L shaped
-Seat depth 14inches with water depth of 16inches

Lighting
-L1 and L2 on the wall nearest to house. Was thinking placement 7.5ft from the ends of both the deep end shelf and the end of the cabo shelf. That would leave 10ft between L1 and L2
-L3 (if needed) could maybe be placed on middle of deep end wall to provide lighting of deep end and back towards shallow end Cabo and corner???

Deck Jets have not been drawn. But was thinking of staggering 2 on each side (total of 4) of the wide ends of the pool. Or configuration of 2-3?

Looking for suggestions for locations of Deck Jets and any feedback on the other modifications we are making to the pool (Cabo Shelf, Bubblers, Swim Up Bench, Lighting)

-Thanks

HI and Welcome to TFP! This should be a fun one!

Wanting to make sure I know what you are saying for sure...............do you already have a pool and you are having work done on it?

Why do you want the deck jets? I will tell you they can be loud and most of the time they are not used after the novelty wears off. They can also be VERY sensitive to anything other than water going through it. It is very important to have a filter before the jet pipes.

We have the pool. Doing a resurfacing, new decks and adding the baja/cabo shelf, swim ledge and water features.

I have read other posts reporting that deck jets are loud.

They do look cool. Thought my kids and their friends would think they are fun.

So was looking for some suggestions of placement of deck jets and how many.

What filter setup would you recommend for the jets? Any suggestion on brand or plumbing setup to make them more quiet?

Thanks for the response

They do look cool! The kids and kid like adults will have fun with them so go for it!!

Just making sure the jets pipes come AFTER the filter is the main thing to keep them working like they should. As for the noise it is the sound the water makes as it hits the water in the pool that makes the noise so not much you can do about it if you want to use them.

-Placement of jets-I like your idea of 2 of them being on the far wall. I would not have the one on the right too close to the shelf as there will be some splashing and the people on the shelf might not want to be splashed. Count the blue lines on your picture (great job by the way!). From the left count 5 & 10. That is where I would put them.

-Lights-I would move one over to the shelf. I would put it right across from the deep end light. That will help light up the steps and area at the end of the shelf. The shelf is going to block quite a bit of light in that area if you leave the lights were they are now. I would then move the other light right in the middle of the close wall.

-shelf- Where are your current returns? I know you are going to have the bubblers on the shelf but they will not push stuff off the shelf. If you don't have a return where the shelf is going to be I would think about putting one there.

Shelf water depth-Make sure everyone is on the same page that the 9" is WATER depth. Some count it as total depth from the shelf to the coping. Doing it that way you lose a lot of water depth.

We decided on adding some lighting to Cabo

L1-L4 are in main body of water

L5 and L6 are on Cabo Shelf

Deck Jets (DJ 1, 2, 3) all on the same side of pool in line with L1, 2, 3

Cabo shelf will also have bubblers in line with L5 and L6

I mentioned the return line on the Cabo. He agreed about having some water flow there but cautioned about having one on the Cabo shelf. Said customers have had issues with the return jet causing a staining or fading of the shallow Cabo shelf.

Planning to put a return of the side of Cabo pointed back towards it for circulation.

Sounds like a solid plan. I will tell you that of all of the builds I have helped with none of them have come back to say it caused any damage. Better safe than sorry if your PB is worried about it though.
