pH keeps drifting over 8

For the past couple of weeks, my pH keeps drifting back up over 8 no matter what I have tried.

Muriatic acid added according to Pool Math, then I thought maybe my MA was no good(?) so I added the appropriate amount of dry acid. Testing around 7.5 after I add acid, but in a few days it's back up to 8+.

Any ideas?

Not out of the ordinary. Keep pushing it down. Odds are your TA is high. Get your pH down around 7.2 on a regular basis.

Hi Skitch,

What's your total alkalinity at? With my saltwater pool and newer plaster I have constant upwards pH drift. It's just a fact of life that I add a few cupfuls of acid every week. Borates could relax the demand slightly but I haven't bothered. I would actually like one of those fancy auto feeders for the acid!

Just tested my TA and it's around 60.

Testing over 8 again on pH. Not sure what to try. The last couple of seasons my pool has stayed at 7.7 without ever adding anything.

I would try muriatic acid
