Pentair temp sensor

Quick question. We have an Easy Touch panel with Screen Logic interface on iPhone. Recently the air temperature has started reading high by about 10-20 degrees. Is the temp sensor for the water also the air sensor? I can’t locate a separate air sensor. Water temps seem correct.

The air temp sensor usually just dangles in the air below the control panel. It is separate from the water temp sensor.

The air temperature sensor should be hanging just below the Easytouch box. At least that is where mine is. The sensors are the same.

It might be in the box or mounted somewhere near the box.

If it's exposed to the sun, it might not be accurate.

It needs to be in the air, but protected from the direct sun. It should not be adjacent to anything directly heated by the sun that can transfer heat to the sensor.

Found it. It may have been getting some extra sun due to the current sun angle, or the heat is reflecting off the wall behind it. Right now it’s shady at the panel and it’s reading 72 which is pretty accurate. An easy swap though if necessary now that I know where it is. Thanks for the help!

I have this same issue. Mine always reads between 10 and 15 higher than i really is, only when it's hot outside. Like you said, I assume its the sun shining on the bricks under the control panel where it is mounted. My backyard web cam always seems to be accurate so I use that for outside temp.

Right now, your sensor's probe is in direct contact with a black cable, @cybertoad . That could cause it to read high. If you turn the sensor around and attach its clamp (the 2-pronged part pointing left in the photo) to the cable, the probe itself will be in open air and maybe read truer.

The ET only needs to know air temperature to enable freeze protection. Otherwise, the air temp is there just for show and not terribly useful.
