I am having a new pump installed and my guy has me looking at these 2 VS pumps. any thoughts? I have all jandy aqualink stuff inside and outside the house so he mentioned he jandy pump will have more features available to me (whatever that means) but he kows there are way more intelliflo pumps out there .. I am torn on which on I want. Price is pretty similar so its not an issue.

Both are good quality pumps. It is accurate that it is best to stay within the ecosystem of a manufacturer to have the best capability with regard to automation. If you are using your phone, the jandy pump and Aqualink RS will provide you with more features to control the pump, set various programs, etc. if you go with the Pentair pump - you may only be able to do limited programing through the AquaLink system. It becomes a personal preference.
So you could call Jandy tech support to maybe determine what is possible if you prefer to go with Pentair pump. Maybe others on the forum have first hand knowledge.

Just curious - why are you selecting the Jandy ePump vs. their other VS pumps. I have been debating this as well and I was leaning to the VS PlusHP or VS FloPro

Honestly I am looking at these 2 based on conversations with many pool contractors and these 2 seem to be the most popular and trusted. I am planning on calling Jandy as I dont see how you program theirs compared to Pentair which has the screen on the unit itself.

Jandy has 2 versions. 1 with the screen if you don't have Aqualink and one without the screen if you have Aqualink (automation).

I have the aqualink RS box/system outside but I dont have the iaqualink(app) set up if that is what you are talking about.

If you already have Aqualink, why would you consider anything but a Jandy pump? Can you post a picture of your box? How to you access it? OneTouch? PDA?

Well I was told the Jandy will be more expensive to fix and the Pentair seems to be a better reviewed product.

What version Aqualink is that? Do you know if you can add wireless/web? I would not even consider changing makers with a VSP. I have also never heard "more to fix". I wonder how they quantify that? These things go for years and years without needing any repairs anyway. Jandy's support is very good as well. This sounds like whomever is trying to sell you one or the other has a personal preference for intelliflo.

not sure on version, it does have the Jandy e pump and Intelliflo already listed under VS pumps to add. It wont do an iAqualink without upgrading the board unfortunately. This current board is around 7 years old.

Check the Rev level on your Aqualink and make sure it supports the VS epump.

How_to_Determine_the_Revision_of_an_Aqualink_System

I don't like the epump without a display and the ability to run it standalone. If you have a problem with your Aqualink your pool is done versus running the pump while you repair the Aqualink.

It supports both the epump and the intelliflo as they are both listed as options on my one touch when I look up VS pump options.

My pool guy talked to his Jandy rep today and he was told that the boards will communicate just fine with an Itelliflo pump

Many folks here are using IntelliFlo pumps with their Aqualink. The Aqualink only controls the VS function and not any other functions like the VF flow settings in the Intelliflo. The VS 011028 pump can be used or the VSF 011056 pump can be used with only the VS settings.

Given all of that neither Jandy or Pentair will support the connection of Aqualink with Intelliflo if you have problems.

I like the IntelliFlo pump and am not trying to talk you out of it. Just be aware of the support issues with using it.

That makes sense, the aqualink is only basically turning on and off the pump and all of the detailed setting for the pump I will do on the pump itself. The Jandy would be no different but you are saying if I am having troubles connecting the two different worlds so to speak neither world will be much help. That is definitely a concern.

When the IntelliFlo is connected to automation the display on it becomes inactive. So you can't change any settings when connected to the Aqualink.

You can put the Intelliflo pump in manual mode, disconnected from the Aqualink, and control it by the display but as soon as you connect it with the Aqualink then the Aqualink controls it.

ok, I will need to do an initial program of what I want based on my pool GPM/RPM and such and then the aqualink will just turn on and off the pool pump itself andif changes are needing to be made I will manually go to the pump put in service mode and make changes and the put back into mode to be controlled by the aqualink. correct? at least that is what I am expecting.

Huh? You should never need to go back to the pump control panel unless the Aqualink is broken. If they can control the variable speeds, then you should be able to control that totally from Aqualink just like with the Jandy variable speed pump. There is nothing else to change. There is a section in the OneTouch for pump speed.
