As a new Pentair IntelliCenter user trying to figure out things...

Does anyone know what the Mode: Off means for the pool in the iOS app. I cannot find anywhere online or in the documentation what the mode is used for or what it should say.

Currently pool mode is on and schedule is running... since getting Pentair system have never seen this mode setting change yet.

If a heater is selected then that will show that selection. The options are dependent upon the equipment you have installed. The potential options are Off, Heater, Heat Pump Only, UltraTemp Only, Solar Only, Solar, Solar Pref, Heat Pump Pref, and UltraTemp Pref. If there is a call for heat it will show a flame and if there is a call for cooling it will show a snowflake.

Awesome thank you all... so if no heat is being used mode will show OFF and if one of those options above are used then it will show something other than OFF while heating.

Its not that simple. Lets take the case where you assigned a solar heater and a gas heater to the pool body. In this instance the available mode options will be Heater, Solar Only, and Solar Pref. So if you select Solar Pref the mode will show Solar Pref but does not mean that the solar heater is on. If the setpoint is higher than the current water temperature and the solar sensor situated next to the panels reads higher than the water temperature + the Start Temp Delta then it will show a Sun icon indicating that solar is currently being used to heat the pool. The solar valve will rotate to divert water to the panels. If it does not meet the solar threshold then it will send a request to the Gas heater to heat the pool and will call for heat from the gas heater. This should turn on the gas heater and close the solar valve it is diverted.

The moral of the story is that the mode does not turn the heater(s) on or off. It only indicates which options will be used if the water temperature falls below the setpoint. Cooling is a bit more involved than that but it follows the same sort of premise. So in essence Off simply means that it will not call for heat regardless of the setpoint.
