Pentair GloBrite Problems/Questions

My pool was redone two years ago and the lights were replaced with Pentair GloBrite LED lights. After 2 years one of the lights can only reproduce the green and blue color that matches the other 5 lights. All the other colors are off and it will not sync to match. None of the colors completely shut off, the color is just different. The lights run each night for 3-4 hours. Is this normal? The warranty has passed. Should I replace them all? Is this an inferior product and I should use a different/better led light? Just replace them as they go bad? How long should I expect the LEDs to last? Any thoughts? I would greatly appreciate your help.

Pentair Globrites use a proprietary receptacle. No other lights fit it. Believe me, I tried.

They are not a robust item. Typically 3-4 years of life at best. There is one suggestion to coat the underside of the LED cover with silicone sealant prior to install. I tried that on my last install. Will see if it helps. Search Pentair Globrite problems. It was a YouTube I found that showed a pool maintenance company using the sealant.

If your lights still work, then it may be a Sync issue. Look at the Easytouch manual. There is a Sync protocol for Intellibrite lights. Your Globrite are considered Intellibrite by the Easytouch.

When one of mine was failing, it acted similarly. In my situation the case had a hairline crack allowing water to penetrate eventually causing the electronics to fail. My guess is you have water intrusion through some point and it will fail completely. I would pull it out to assess and expect to be replacing it. Here is my post: Globrite failure

We made a replacement light with adapter to fit the proprietary niche. Lights are here and adapter is below. We include the adapter for free if you ask.

I purchased two of your lights but returned them. The 'adapter' definitely would not hold the light in place well enough. So I say buyer beware. These may or may not work for your Globrite replacement.

Thanks for your feed back. I am willing to create another version if you can give me feed back on a better design. I can typically get a prototype
within 2 weeks and a production version within a month. If you used the silicone adapter I definitely want feedback.

Is it held in by friction? The pentair uses a twist lock mechanism.
They are. It will work on a flat pool wall surface quite well. Do be ware the lights are about 6" in diameter so much bigger than the Globrite. And they also put out a lot more light.

Thanks, that's good to know, I couldn't find drawings or dimensions on their website. Too bad they aren't dimmable. If they're held with friction it also probably means you'll have some stagnant area behind the light that will grow algae. Is there a gasket around the perimeter to try to prevent this? I really really don't want to give another dollar to Pentair- they're a terrible company. And the globrite is trash.

The Globrite does not seal the water out. It is just a twist lock. No gasket or anything. So that is not an issue.

I have spoken to the owner of Florida Sunseeker and they are reviewing their website to get some more dimensional data. They also are looking at making a smaller diameter light for areas that would need it.

Any question, call them. They are really good about answering questions, etc. Or use DM to @flaled

I'll have to look again, but I'm almost sure there's a rubber o ring around the globrite (at least for the niche model for concrete pools, I know there are several models). Not that I'm necessarily concerned about being water tight, although algae does tend to grow around the ring of the light, so I assume if a light puck was just sitting against the wall of the pool then there might be issues behind it, if that makes sense.

I did call them, although I might need to just get my hands on one to decide, and I haven't seen anyone post photos of a retrofit. I really would like a replacement that is completely controllable with wifi, zwave, or zigbee, but it sounds like that's a little ways off.

I just replaced two Globrites over my entry steps with the Nichless lights from Florida-Sunseeker. The lights sit in the Globrite niche with the adapter provided. They are snug but not tight. I was able to pull them flush to the wall with the cord which I then locked in place at the transformer. The water weight pushes the six inch light to the wall as well. I have cleaning jets right next to these lights & they don't budge. So far, we like them better than the globrite. We were concerned about the size & brightness but neither is a problem. The company was great, especially Kyle in support who helped me. Refunds pending on a few items I had to exchange but you can replace globrites with these in my opinion.

About a month later the Florida Sunseeker lights are terrific. Here's a pic of my steps where I replaced Pentair Globrites with their "nichless" lights.

Thank you for this information. I’m curious as another frustrated glow bright owner. did you replace all of your lights with the Sunseeker lights or just a couple? how are you controlling the color modes since the sun seekers won’t work with the intellitouch programs?

+1. I'd love to try just a couple to start with -- but still enjoy color sync/intellibrite etc... Will it work?
