Ozone and Ionizer Combined

They're not recommended ways to sanitize your pool. See:

Hello AcidBurn... To be honest, TFP does *not* endorse the use of Ozone or metals in residential outdoor pools.

Metals Added by Alternative Sanitizer Systems

One point to note is that, in recent years, pool builders and equipment manufacturers have been pushing “low chlorine / alternative sanitizer” systems fairly heavily in lieu of traditional chlorine tablet feeders and salt water chlorine generators. These systems still require low levels of chlorine in order to achieve the EPA set standards for sanitation but also pair metal ion systems (Cu or Cu+Ag) with UV Systems and Ozone injectors.

These systems intentionally inject metal ions into pool water as copper metal is an effective algaecide. However, the threshold levels of copper needed are so close to the staining concentrations that these systems put pool water and surfaces at constant risk of staining.

It is TFP’s recommendation that these metal ion systems be avoided at all costs as they are most definitely NOT trouble-free.

Totally understand TFP doesn’t recommend but has anyone done it?

Chlorine accomplishes 2 things sanitizing and oxidizing. Ionizer can sanitize and leave residual but can’t oxidize and ozone can oxidize and sanitize, some what, but there is no residual. so wondering if you combined them and had ozone water going to pool and ionizer water going to spa would it work?

Ionizer will leave metals in your pool that can cause discoloration and staining.

Ozone only treats the water passing through the actual device and doesn't help the body of water in the pool.

They aren't recommended.

To be clear - this forum is meant to be support / assistance / discussion regarding one specific method of pool care. That method doesn't include ionizer or ozone systems. We're open about why - see links and discussions above, but we'll just recommend against those items as they aren't conducive to the pool care method this forum is here to discuss.

Will they work? Maybe. Maybe someone will have good luck with them, and not notice any negative effects. But it's not reliable, teachable, measurable, and trainable, so it's not something you'll get a recommendation on using from here.

Ionizer can sanitize
This is a false statement. Metals in water are an algaecide only, they do not provide any sanitation.

Residential pools do not have much use for supplemental oxidation or sanitation of the water, chlorine alone is far more than enough for the bather load of a private pool.

Can you eat raw chicken and not get salmonella poisoning? Possibly…..
