We are starting a 30 foot round above ground pool . We bought a 40,000 gal filter for the hose and used the 3 sock method over the end both and the water is brown. Should we pump it out and buy loads or try to fix with filtering and chemicals?

I'm sure someone else will show up here, but can I assume you're filling from a high iron content well? Have you added any chlorine? Or is this pond water?
It is from our well, although it looks like pond water. And we haven't put anything in it yet.

Try putting polyfill in your skimmer and seeing if that gets brown / pulls out the iron

My old house had high sediment water from the well. That would have been a fun cleanup for a pool (that house didn't have a pool).

I'm right there with you. Looks identical to mine. I'm filtering like crazy and it's getting stuff out but still can't see much more than about a foot into the water. Only been a day so far. Hows yours doing after a week?
